Mineral Wells ISD will provide free breakfast and lunch to all students in the district for the

2023-2024 school year.  This expands a policy that normally only provides free and reduced-cost meals based on a family's income.  The district change eliminates the need for free and reduced-price meal applications and collecting payment for basic student meals.  Mineral Wells ISD said it's able to provide the meals for the school year thanks to a federal program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  This new approach reduces burdens for families and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.  We are excited to be able to feed all students one school breakfast and one school lunch per day free of charge this school year. A school lunch includes a protein, whole grain, fruit, vegetable and milk.  Healthy snacks and a la cart items that comply with USDA smart snacks are also available for purchase at an additional cost.

 

What does this mean to you and your student?

 

No applications will have to be completed.
No student will need to charge meals.
No student will receive the alternate tray.

 

FAQ about lunch accounts:

 

What about money left in my students account?

Each campus will continue to sell extra items, so your student may use their money for these items. Student lunch accounts will continue to move to each campus as your student moves. 

 

Can money be deposited into my student’s account for extras?

 Yes!   Our students love to purchase extra items a la cart and smart snacks.  Account money will be available for those extra purchases.
