Warm winter clothes not only help children get to school safely, but it also helps them stay focused once they’re in their classrooms. Health experts report that even a two degree drop in body temperature results in reduced heart rate, confusion and loss of coordination, making it extremely difficult for children to concentrate and learn. For many a warm coat, can help solve this problem. Warm clothes also allow children to play outside, giving them a chance to be active year-round and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
The holiday season is a crucial time of year for many of those in need who rely on assistance. The Travis Elementary Student Council recently held a coat drive called “Coats for Kids”. After posting their needs on social media, Palo Pinto County Bass Masters immediately responded by donating $900 to the project.
BassMasters is dedicated to enhancing the sport of bass fishing by advocating for access, conservation and youth fishing. They use money made from their open tournaments to support community events and make donations throughout the year.
Tonight, The Mineral Wells Board of Trustees honors Palo Pinto BassMasters as our December Partner in Education for supporting our students and providing the gift of warmth. Your kindness and generosity has touched many lives and helped make providing the necessary resources for families that much easier.
