Mineral Wells ISD is excited to begin a 1:1 Chromebook initiative where students in Junior High and High School will be assigned a Chromebook laptop to use at school and at home. The purpose of this educational initiative is to provide access to resources and tools to meet the needs of 21st century students, engage students, and provide the opportunity to do work that was previously not possible without greater access to a computing device.
This program will be rolled out over a four year period starting with 8th grade students this school year. Chromebook devices will be distributed to 8th grade students starting January 3rd.
To better explain the program, we will be hosting an informational session for 8th grade parents. At the meeting we will cover a variety of topics including educational benefits, security, device fees, agreement terms, coverage for repairs, and to answer any questions. Parent meetings will be offered twice:
Monday November 27th and Tuesday November 28th, 6:00 pm
at Mineral Wells Junior High
We encourage 8th grade parents to attend one of these meetings if possible.
Before receiving a Chromebook, parents and students must sign the MWISD device agreement form and submit the device fee payment. These will be discussed in further details at the parent meeting.
We would like to receive the signed forms and payment in the Junior High office by December 19th to enable hand out of the devices to students starting January 3rd.
