Cathy Hammond

Mrs. Hammond joined the MWISD family in 1999. She previously served as an English educator at         MWHS before becoming the librarian at Travis Elementary in 2007. In 2018, Mrs. Hammond returned to MWHS in the role of campus librarian as well as Lead Librarian for MWISD. She obtained her  Bachelor of Arts in English degree from Tarleton State University and Master of Library Science degree from Texas Woman's University. Mrs. Hammond is also a proud member of the Texas Library Association's Texas Accelerated Library Leaders Institute Class of 2018. Mrs. Hammond is passionate about igniting student creativity and innovation, sharing a great book, and supporting lifelong learning.

 Mrs. Thomas joined MWISD in 2018.  This is her 5th year as a librarian/media specialist.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University and her Masters of Education degree from Sam Houston State University. She is currently finishing up her Library certification at Sam Houston State University.   She has taught high school Technology classes, has been an Instructional Technologist for three elementary campuses, and a college professor teaching Web Graphic Design courses at DeVry University. This is her 21st year in the educational field.   Her professional memberships include American Library Association, Texas Library Association, TCEA, and ISTE.  She loves being part of the library and is a Future Ready Librarian.  She knows that all face difficulties in life but with determination and confidence we can achieve anything. She has always felt that all individuals can learn given proper reinforcement and resources.
Travis Elementary
Tara Hargrove

Mrs. Hargrove grew up and graduated high school in Weatherford, Tx. From there she earned her undergraduate degree in Education, ELAR 4-8 from Texas Christian University. She began teaching in 2009 as a fourth-grade teacher. In the past ten years she has taught kindergarten, third, fourth and fifth grade. She has graduated with her master’s in library science degree from Sam Houston State University. Mrs. Hargrove is so excited to start her new journey as a librarian at Travis Elementary. She is passionate and loves helping any and everyone to the best of her ability. Her motto that she strives to live by daily is “BE THE GOOD!” Her goal as a librarian is to help 21st century students become life-long learners, collaborate and co-teach with teachers, find connections between what is taught in the classrooms to what can be found in books, online or even hands on engagement in makerspace, and create a welcoming, inviting and accessible learning hub for the entire Travis community.

Houston Elementary

Mrs. Shoemaker is enjoying her third year as the librarian at Houston Elementary. She has previously served the students of Mineral Wells as a high school English teacher and a third grade reading teacher. This year marks her 16th year in education, and she cannot imagine being in a more perfect place than a MWISD library. Twenty-first century libraries are places where collaboration, creativity, and creation work alongside books and information. Whether a child is looking to create in the MakerSpace area, produce a video, or find a new favorite book series, the library is the place to go! Mrs. Shoemaker received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University, and she is currently working on her Master of Library Science degree from Texas Woman’s University.

Lamar Elementary

Rachel Lively

This is Mrs. Lively's first year as Lamar librarian. Prior to becoming a librarian, Mrs. Lively taught kindergarten at Lamar for 3 years. She is a Mineral Wells native and graduated from MWHS. Go Rams! In 2009, Mrs. Lively graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She is currently working on obtaining her master's degree in library science from Texas Woman's University. Mrs. Lively is ready to take on the challenges and joys of being a school librarian. She believes that every child should see themselves as a reader, no matter their ability level. Mrs. Lively cannot wait to begin sharing stories, laughs, and knowledge with her Lamar family.
