Qualifications

 

  • Have a High School Diploma or U.S.-certified equivalent
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Ability to communicate effectively

 

Required Documents

 

  • Driver’s License or U.S. Passport
  • Social Security Card
  • A copy of your high school diploma, or an official college transcript.

 

NOTE: All substitutes in the Mineral Wells Independent School District are required to comply with the fingerprinting requirements of Senate Bill 9. 

 

 Application Process

  1. Complete the Substitute Application online.
  2. Selected applicants will be contacted by phone or email by an MWISD representative to schedule them into the next available orientation session. Orientation sessions are held as needed in order to maintain an adequate substitute roster for the district.
  3. After completing the required Substitute Orientation an individual’s name will be submitted to the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) to begin the fingerprinting process. The cost for this is paid by the substitute at the time of fingerprinting.

Definitions: 

Long Term – After 10 consecutive days in the same position for the same person.

Degreed – Bachelor’s Degree or Higher

Certified – State Board of Educator Certification in subject/grade being taught.
