MWISD Participates in Attendance Awareness Month

essential to academic success and plays a critical role in overall student development. Attendance Awareness Month is a time to educate individuals and communities about attendance issues and the effects poor attendance can have on a student’s progress.
“Attendance is crucial to our students’ success.  This month, and every month, we want to encourage our students, staff and MWISD families to strive for regular attendance.
Oftentimes students, parents and schools don’t realize how quickly absences, excused or unexcused, can add up to academic trouble. Chronic absence— missing just 18 days per school year— can lead to third graders being unable to master reading, sixth graders failing courses, and ninth-graders dropping out of high school.
