Celina, Texas, and furthered his education at Tarleton State University. Cody was a part of the first football staff at Brock ISD, and that is where his coaching career began. He assisted the team in a 2015 state title, 2017 state finalist, and 4 state semifinal appearances. In 2021 he moved to El Campo ISD where he was the Assistant Athletic Director and Offensive Coordinator. He is married to Chelsea Worrell, and they have two children, Chloe and Cutter. We are also happy to have his wife joining our special education department.
Worrell plans to build a culture of academic and athletic excellence. Equally as important, he shares MWISD’s core values. Worrell is focused on giving our student-athletes the best opportunities possible and embraces the exciting opportunities ahead for Mineral Wells ISD athletics.
Dr. John Kuhn expressed his excitement about Coach Worrell joining the Mineral Wells community.
“I hope the entire Mineral Wells community shares my uncontainable excitement in welcoming the Worrells into the Ram family. What an incredible addition to our team of educators!
“As a Ram fan since 2002, I’ve lived the ups and downs as much as anyone. I can’t wait to watch Cody Worrell bring his deep knowledge and vast experience to bear for the betterment of the entire MWISD athletic program and all sports. He has seen tremendous success as a player and as a football OC, but also as a basketball assistant coach, a beloved elementary PE teacher, and, in a general sense, as a leader of student-athletes. He’s a good man with a good heart and a good head on his shoulders. His influence across our athletic and academic cultures is a welcome addition.
“Coach Worrell has been a key part of some magical teams. He brings a winning mindset and obvious success-building habits of mind and tried-and-tested coaching skills to our district.
“I am ready for a culture of winning to spread across all boys’ and girls’ sports. And not just that—I am ready for a culture of excellence to spread across all extracurricular programs…and all academic subjects.
“With the addition of Coach Worrell in the AD’s office and the addition of Mrs. Shanna Spillers in the principal’s office, the 2023-2024 school year at MWHS should prove to be an exciting one to watch. Our upcoming football and volleyball seasons will set the tone for the rest of the year.
“Welcome, Coach Worrell and family to Ramland! Ram athletics is your canvas, and you have my full support to create a winning culture that lifts up our student body and helps all Rams to shine a little more brightly and walk a little taller.
Let’s make history”.
Coach Worrell will begin his position on Monday, May 8, 2023.
