Among events impacted by this extended closure are Mineral Wells ISD's high school graduation ceremonies. Mineral Wells ISD has selected Friday, May 29th, as a virtual graduation date. An in-person graduation is being planned later in July but will be contingent on local restrictions regarding mass gatherings being lifted. The virtual graduation will be held on the MWISD Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mwisdrams/.
Mineral Wells ISD will continue to discuss plans for summer school and other June activities in the coming days, with announcements made as the status of summer activities are confirmed. Mineral Wells ISD encourages families to continue to follow the recommendations of the CDC and stay home, avoid contact within six feet of other people, and follow social distancing directives for essential activities only as outlined by city, county, and state officials.
We are aware that an unexpected school closure creates a hardship on our parents and staff because of work, childcare, and other considerations, but we hope you know that the decision is based on doing what we believe is in the best interest of everyone involved. We also understand that for many students, school is the one place that they can count on for meals and support. Mineral Wells ISD will continue to serve drive-through meal pick-up service at Travis Elementary throughout this closure and continue its distant learning plan to provide more guidance and support for parents.
