Dr. James R. "Ronny" Collins
Superintendent of MWISD Schools

This is Dr. Collins' fourth year as Superintendent of Mineral Wells ISD and 34th year as an educator. Since Dr. Collins has been in MWISD, the school district and all campuses have earned "Recognized" status for two years in a roll. This truly illustrates the hard work and dedication of all the MWISD staff.

Prior to coming to Mineral Wells, Dr. Collins served 18 years as a superintendent at Wellington ISD, Jacksboro ISD, and Snyder ISD. During his superintendency, his districts have been rated "Recognized" eight times and "Exemplary" twice.
 
Shortly after being hired by MWISD, Dr. Collins was recognized for being selected as the 2008 Region 14 Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Collins was one of 15 regional winners that were nominated for the annual Superintendent of the Year award sponsored by the Texas Association of School Boards.
 
Dr. Collins received his Doctorate from Oklahoma State University and Master and Bachelor degrees from Tarleton State University.

  • Superintendent of Jacksboro ISD (3A/2A)
  • Superintendent Wellington ISD (2A)
  • Principal at Wellington Elementary
  • Director of Vocational Education at San Marcos C.I.S.D.
  • Weatherford College Instructor
  • Graduate Teaching Assistant at Oklahoma State University
  • Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Rio Vista High School
  • Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Grandview High School
 Dr. Collins is a member of the following:
  • Noon Lions Club
  • Palo Pinto County United Way
  • Palo Pinto County Steering Committee - Weatherford College
His wife, Terri, is a 5th grade teacher at Travis Elementary. They have two sons, two daughter-in-laws, two grandsons, and two granddaughters.
