Red Ribbon Week Activities- October 23-27

Throughout Red Ribbon Week, MWISD schools host activities designed to reinforce the drug-free message. Students will participate in school activities that remind them of the dangers of drug use and unite them in a stand against illegal drugs.  The following activities are planned for each campus:
 
Lamar Elementary
• Monday: “Red-y” to Say No to Drugs (Red shirts)
• Tuesday: I am a “Jean-us” (Wear Jeans)
• Wednesday: Peace out to Drugs (Peace signs, tie-dye, Hippie)
• Thursday: Sock it to Drugs (Wear Crazy socks)
• Friday: Our School is Drug Free (School Spirit Shirts)
 
Houston Elementary
  • Monday:  Hats Off to Drugs (wear hats)
  • Tuesday:  Be a Hero, Not a ZERO (wear superhero gear/shirt)
  • Wednesday:  Shade Out Drugs (wear your sunglasses)
  • Thursday:  Ram Pride (wear your Ram gear)
  • Friday:  Career Day (dress in what you want to be when you grow up)
 
Travis Elementary
  • Monday, October 23rd – The Drug Free Force is With Me(Everyone wears red)
    • Hand out bracelets in homeroom class.
    • TNT – History of Red Ribbon Week
    Tuesday, October 24th – Friends Don’t Let Friends Do Drugs
    • Grab a friend and dress like twins (or triplets or quadruplets).
    • Everyone receives a sticker.
    Wednesday, October 25th – Don’t Let Drugs Mess Up Your Future
    • Wear clothes from your favorite decade.
    • Everyone receives a pencil.
    Thursday, October 26th – Real Heroes Don’t Do Drugs
    • Dress as your favorite hero.
    • Everyone receives a bookmark.
    Friday, October 27th – Team Up Against Drugs
    • Show your team spirit by wearing apparel from your favorite team.
    • Pumpkin voting
 
Mineral Wells Jr. High
• Monday: “Be the Change You Wish to See in the World”. Hunger Games-Students/ Teacher wear the color of your district
• Tuesday: “Don’t get Tied Down w/ Drugs”. Wear Tie Die clothing. Students/ Teachers will be given stickers saying, “Don’t get Tied Down with Drugs”
• Wednesday: “My future Matters”. Students wear college t-shirts. Students will be a pencil that says, “My future matters.
• Thursday: “My future is bright, no drugs in sight.” Wear neon colors. Students will be given wrist bands saying, “My future is bright, no drugs in sight.”
• Friday: “I love my drug free selfie”. Wear red; Students will take selfie’s at lunch. Students/ Teachers will be given a pencil saying, “I love my drug free selfie”
 
Mineral Wells High School
• Monday- "Grow Old Together" Dress like a senior citizen
• Tuesday-"Don't get 'tied' with Drugs" Tie-Dyed Clothing
• Wednesday-"Drugs are Old School" Dress 80s and 90s
• Thursday-"Pair Up Against Drugs" Twin Day
• Friday-Pep Rally Theme-Black Out
